A Godly perspective

If you research God's Word on the true perspective of marriage this ceremony is right on! It follows scripture in the responsibilities and accountability of the husband to be a man of integrity and honor. We, (men) are to love our wife as Christ loves the church, (give our lives for her) women are to respect their husbands out of reverence to Christ, who is the HEAD of the marriage.
This ceremony give the glory and praise to our creator, we will certainly be using this for our wedding in seven days!

no one wants your critical 2 cents... if you knew what it meant to be a christian... the bible says that christ is the head of the bride of christ... man was made after the likeness of christ until he sinned in the garden... wives have independence but should be in submission because God has made him the head! doenst mean a man should have a wife that waits on him hand and foot like a slave but let him guide her so she can stay on track... woman are emotional being men are more solid so that helps when making tough decisions! men are to be gentle and loving to there wives but woman are to be in subjection to be his help meet, but in a righteous Godly fashion! please consider peoples beliefs before you post offending comments such as that!

Crazy to see someting from my wedding online 10 years later

The two paragraphs just prior to the vows were spoke to me in my wedding 10 years ago as something passed on to us from our pastor, who had it said to him in his wedding, and that was apparently passed to him from its original author. I am in ministry, and have passed it on in the ceremonies I perform. I was amazed to see that passage here, nearly word for word. Takes me back!

This is a Christain reading. The bible indicates that the husband is to be the spiritual leader of the home. Also, that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. And, that the wife should honor and obey her husband. This doesn't mean that a woman can't initiate love, but rather that God knew a woman's desire is to be loved, and men feel loved when they are respected. Read it sometime.

I am using this in my wedding. It is perfect.
A beautiful woman is one that has peace in herself and a kind heart towards others, which is what "inner beauty of soul that never fades" means. A man is the initiator of love. Who wouldn't want the man to initiate his love through tender touching, kind and loving words.
I believe someone just missunderstood the meaning of this ceremony. I hope she found one she liked better.

Hey Vivi,

If you even read this again and I pray that you do, I wanted to let you know that the reasoning behind the man being the head is that Christ wanted the man to lead out as Christ and he must also love his wife as Christ loved the church. This is an amazing love that is both understanding and completely supportive. As for the woman being submissive it isn't degrading at all. Women are called to willingly put their husbands above their selves. Also, since the husband should be submitting to God as his authority, when you submit you are actually submitting yourself to Christ! I hope this helps and/or makes sense to you. It's actually a really beautiful thing!

Why is it the man's job to be "the spiritual head, as the responsible provider, and as the initiator of love?" Is it wrong for a woman to initiate love? And the womna must, "have that inner beauty of soul that never fades; that eternal youth that is found in holding fast the things that never age."

Doesn't this scream Madonna-whore complex to you??? The man initiates everything and woman maintains a childlike soul?? The kind of eternal youth that never ages??? That just seems so degrading. I would never use this ceremony for my wedding but good luck to those who do. Just my two cents!

Absolutely beautiful

These vows are perfect for me........One of my favorite sayings has always been "I wish you enough rain to enjoy the sun", meaning that the rough places in life make you enjoy the good stuff even more. So the fact that these vows incorporate that idea in them brought me to tears. I love the simple wording, and the challenge to always be encouraging each other, even when life is difficult.
