Your explanation and understanding or should I say overstanding sounds much better than the poem itself......well said!

Why not
Been married 15 years now, so I have a good idea of what it means. People change regardless of whether they are married or not. We grow. That's what this vow is saying- as each grows and strives to reach their potential he/she supports and encourages the other in their growth. So what's wrong with committing yourself to someone else and committing to support that person in their growth as a person, a spouse, and a friend??
BTW...I'm directing a wedding so that's why I'm looking in case someone wonders why. :)

Are you kidding me
Ok seriously, their freakin wedding vows. If you want to say something, at least say something nice. The person who wrote this probably put a lot of thought into this.
Also, who really cares about someone elses grammer? Maybe they did that on purpose. NO BIG DEAL!!!
Grow up. If u wanna check out wedding vows, do so. But don't go on criticizing other peoples vows saying they suck. It's like spitting in their face and sayin what they said was a piece of s***.
I, in my opinion, thought they were pretty good. But honestly, every one of you that commented on this, besides the ones that weren't acting like they know it all/arguing/etc, should either make up your own vows, get a life, think about what they wrote and why, or just stay the way you are; single, stupid, naive little kids who don't know what maturity means.

What the hell does god have to do with this? It does kinda' suck. And Shanika, you really shouldn't be pointing out grammar issues

all of you...
First, I like these vows...they are sweet. Second: If you are going to correct another persons spelling at least make sure you use correct grammer while doing so! "so many time on your hand" I think you meant so MUCH time on your handS. Third: Cindy.....vows are YOUR promise to the other person....so that said...EVERY vow is going to make you sound stuck on yourself. It's YOUR promise to the other person. Would you rather hear the bride and groom talk about what the other person needs to do? "I _____ hope you promise to be loyal and love me until you die." Not so sincere huh?!

needs help
This is seriously lacking in the commitment with "each other" department. There is to much of the I will myself it seems when I first read it it was take me as I am or dont take me at all.

Realistic
I think these vows are far more realistic than the sappy "two become one" yadda yadda. It aknowledges the reality of marriage as a partnership where two separate entities come together to live a life together, each with their own identities. It acknowledges that there is life after the wedding ceremony, and that in order for a marriage to thrive, there must be growing and changing together, two people committed to making their differences work and their similarities thrive.

Unsure if you know what Marriage means
I am really unsure if you realy know what marriage means. It is a commitment to be one with your future husband/wife. This vow just seems to me to reflect that two people are getting married, but are still going to be living two seperate lives. Not one as it is meant to be.
